About the Role
We are seeking a motivated Sales Tax & Compliance Specialist to assist a rapidly growing U.S. company with its multi-state sales tax setup and ongoing compliance requirements. You will be responsible for registering new entities in various states, filing for seller’s permits, and ensuring precise tax collection and remittance across jurisdictions.
Responsibilities
- Register the company for sales tax and seller’s permits in all required U.S. states.
- Collaborate with the accounting team to establish and maintain state-specific tax accounts.
- Oversee multi-state filings for sales and use tax, ensuring all deadlines are met.
- Monitor nexus requirements and uphold compliance as the business expands.
- Reconcile monthly and quarterly tax reports with internal accounting records.
- Communicate with state agencies regarding applications, renewals, and compliance issues.
- Maintain organized records and process documentation across all states.
Requirements
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in U.S. state tax registration, filings, or compliance.
- Background in accounting, tax operations, or finance is preferred, especially in eCommerce or SaaS.
- Familiarity with tools like Avalara, TaxJar, or similar platforms.
- Strong proficiency in written and spoken English to communicate effectively with U.S. tax agencies.
- Detail-oriented and organized, capable of managing multiple tasks efficiently.
- Self-motivated and comfortable working remotely with minimal supervision.
