The Medical Affairs team at AbbVie is dedicated to delivering essential and clinically pertinent information to patients, healthcare providers, and payers globally. Our aim is to ensure that AbbVie products are utilized safely and effectively throughout the product lifecycle and the patient journey.
The role of the Scientific/Medical Director in Medical Affairs is pivotal, as it entails providing expert medical and scientific insights into strategic and operational medical affairs for AbbVie’s Oncology portfolio. This includes engaging with healthcare professionals, generating clinical and scientific data to enhance therapeutic benefits, leading educational initiatives, crafting scientific communications, developing value propositions, and ensuring patient safety through risk minimization and safety surveillance activities.
This position requires close collaboration with commercial and research and development teams to offer critical medical input for evolving medical, brand, and value access strategies that support our on-market offerings and therapeutic area requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with Global Medical teams, Clinical Development, Commercial, Market Access, Regulatory, HEOR, and other functional areas to provide leadership and support for assigned indications/projects.
- Work alongside Brand Teams and relevant cross-functional area/affiliate medical teams to provide strategic input into the core asset strategy and execute medical support/launch activities for gynecologic oncology initiatives.
- Conduct promotional reviews and assist in the creation of scientifically accurate marketing materials, medical education programs, advisories, and symposia.
- Act as the medical expert for both internal and external stakeholders concerning asset clinical profiles and provide medical reviews for cross-functional deliverables, ensuring compliance and scientific accuracy.
- Formulate innovative research concepts, generate evidence, and implement scientific communication plans, including high-quality publications, presentations, and educational programs.
- Engage with and foster relationships with key opinion leaders, scientific advisors, and advocacy groups within the gynecologic oncology community.
- Monitor the evolving therapeutic landscape to inform business decisions and anticipate future needs.
- Lead the development and execution of advisory boards.
- May oversee the delivery of the medical functional plan, brand plan, and/or integrated evidence plan.
