The Team You’ll Work With:
The Office of Intergovernmental Affairs facilitates the City’s interactions with City, State, and Federal Legislative Affairs Offices, along with the offices of the City Comptroller, Public Advocate, and Borough Presidents. This office keeps the Mayor and the First Deputy Mayor informed about intergovernmental matters and acts as a liaison between the City and other governmental entities, fostering constructive relationships to support the Administration’s objectives.
The Problems You’ll Solve:
The Senior Advisors will report directly to the Director of Intergovernmental Affairs and collaborate across IGA’s legislative units to serve as lead organizers for significant Mayoral initiatives and priorities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Intergovernmental Liaison: Act as a liaison among City, State, and Federal elected officials, IGA Legislative Units, IGA Senior Advisors, and pertinent Mayoral agencies and offices. Oversee projects and develop strategic outreach to elected officials and advocates to advance Mayoral objectives.
- Interagency Coordination: Collaborate with various agencies, boards, commissions, organizations, and institutions that align with Administration goals and policy initiatives, ensuring project goals and timelines are met, and reviewing agency and interagency outputs.
- General Support: Provide administrative support and coordination as needed, including the preparation of correspondence and briefing memoranda, conducting background research, and supplying information for the Director of Intergovernmental Affairs.
About You:
- You excel in providing high-level support and advice to cultivate and maintain effective relationships with all internal and external stakeholders.
- You are skilled at tracking City legislation and monitoring its progress through the legislative process.
- You possess a proven ability to collaborate with IGA, Administration officials, and City agencies in the review and preparation of legislation.
- You can write comprehensive analyses of legislation, including public memos in support or opposition.
- You are adept at handling special projects as identified by City Hall Executive Leadership.
