GENERAL PURPOSE OF JOB:
The Senior Automation Engineer plays a crucial role in enhancing the efficiency and quality of footwear manufacturing processes through the design, implementation, and maintenance of advanced automation systems.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Design, install, and maintain state-of-the-art automation systems utilizing PLCs, sensors, and actuators for applications such as material handling, adhesive dispensing, and machine sequencing.
- Develop and implement sophisticated vision systems and machine learning models to improve visual inspection and mistake-proofing operations.
- Construct and wire control panels, including the specification, installation, and integration of PLCs and related hardware.
- Utilize a robust network of machine integrators, panel builders, and automation vendors to deliver effective solutions.
- Integrate collaborative robotics and automated guided vehicles (AGVs) for streamlined material handling and process optimization.
- Establish automation-based safety controls, including light curtains and control logic, in accordance with industry best practices.
- Work collaboratively across departments to retrofit existing equipment and workflows with minimal disruption while maximizing impact.
- Monitor, troubleshoot, and optimize automated systems to minimize downtime and support ongoing improvement initiatives.
- Document control logic, system configurations, and standard operating procedures to facilitate efficient training and maintenance.
- Ensure all automation systems comply with safety regulations and operational standards.
