About the Role
We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Backend Engineer to enhance Grüns’ data and systems infrastructure as we continue to expand. In this pivotal role, you will own and manage backend services and critical business integrations that enable accurate reporting, forecasting, and internal tools. This position bridges backend and data engineering, collaborating closely with our tech team to create robust data products and seamless cross-system workflows. You will report directly to the Manager of Data Engineering.
This role is essential for driving speed and stability throughout the organization. You will convert diverse requirements from Finance, Operations, Growth, Customer Experience, and Product into reliable backend systems and high-quality data workflows. Additionally, you will be instrumental in productionizing data products that support analytics, forecasting, and data science efforts.
This role is part of our remote HQ! We foster a fully remote, high-trust work environment and gather quarterly for exciting off-site meetings to connect in person.
In This Role, You Will:
- Develop and manage backend services and system integrations across key business platforms including Shopify, Skio (subscriptions), Fulfil.io (ERP), marketing tools, and finance/banking systems.
- Design, implement, and maintain reliable data ingestion methods utilizing APIs, webhooks, and batch workflows, ensuring strong error handling and observability.
- Write and maintain production-quality services primarily using Python (with Node/TypeScript when necessary).
- Productionize data products that facilitate analytics, forecasting, and data science initiatives, ensuring they are robust, scalable, and maintainable.
- Enhance platform reliability across GCP, data warehousing, and orchestration layers through effective monitoring, alerting, logging, and cost-effective architectural choices.
- Translate cross-functional requirements into robust technical systems, collaborating closely with stakeholders to achieve optimal solutions.
