Join our dynamic team as a Senior Character Artist, where your passion for crafting exceptional, game-ready characters will shine. In this hands-on role, you will focus on delivering characters that meet AAA quality standards, whether realistic or stylized, while adhering to technical and pipeline requirements. Collaborating closely with Art Directors, Tech Artists, and Animators, you will bring characters to life within cutting-edge game engines.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop high-quality 3D characters (both realistic and stylized) from concepts to final in-game assets.
- Sculpt detailed anatomy and forms using ZBrush, showcasing a strong understanding of human and creature anatomy.
- Design clothing utilizing Marvelous Designer, demonstrating expertise in cloth folds.
- Create game-ready topology, UVs, and optimized meshes.
- Texture characters with Substance Painter/Designer, including skin, fabrics, armor, and props.
- Utilize scan data and Texture XYZ maps for realistic head likeness and skin detailing.
- Implement hair cards or groom-based hair, ensuring realism and performance.
- Ensure assets comply with technical constraints such as polycount, texture budgets, and LODs.
- Integrate characters into game engines (Unreal/Unity) and troubleshoot visual issues.
- Collaborate with rigging, animation, and tech art teams to guarantee smooth deformation and performance.
Requirements
- Deep knowledge of human anatomy, proportions, and facial structure.
- Expertise in ZBrush, Maya/Blender, Substance Painter, and Marvelous Designer.
- Experience in realistic head likeness matching.
- Strong understanding of PBR workflows.
- Familiarity with creating hair cards and hair shading techniques.
- Knowledge of AAA game pipelines and real-time asset creation.
- Ability to work independently and take ownership of character assets.
- A keen eye for detail, form, and material definition.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working on shipped AAA titles.
- Familiarity with photogrammetry workflows.
- Basic knowledge of rigging and skinning requirements.
- Experience with Unreal Engine character setup.
- Background in creature or stylized character design.
