Position Overview
We are seeking a Senior Director-level Senior Commercial Counsel who is enthusiastic about driving innovation, scalability, and growth through our go-to-market revenue strategies. As a Senior Commercial Counsel at DigitalOcean, you will directly report to the General Counsel and act as the primary legal partner for our Go-to-Market organization. Your expertise will be crucial in shaping and implementing legal strategies for complex, innovative commercial agreements that support our AI, PaaS, SaaS, and IaaS offerings. You will serve as a trusted advisor to senior leadership, driving scalable legal processes while fostering innovation across DigitalOcean's ecosystem of clients and partners.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead as the primary commercial counsel for the Go-to-Market team, formulating legal strategies and executing complex commercial agreements for AI services, PaaS, SaaS, and IaaS.
- Act as a strategic advisor, liaison, and contract lead for DigitalOcean's partnerships, including direct resellers, ecosystem partners, managed service providers, and direct customers.
- Oversee the development and enhancement of legal templates, playbooks, AI-driven processes, and risk management frameworks to ensure efficient and scalable commercial operations.
- Collaborate with Finance, Sales, and Operations to support contract lifecycle management (Quote-to-Cash), driving automation and legal tooling improvements across the organization.
- Provide counsel on compliance with relevant laws and regulatory frameworks.
- Support M&A initiatives as necessary, including contract diligence, integration, and post-closing support.
- Lead or engage in special projects and high-priority initiatives as directed by the General Counsel.
- Manage a small team of legal operations professionals.
Performance Metrics
- Timeliness and quality of legal guidance on key commercial transactions.
- Efficiency and scalability of contracting processes.
