About the Role
As a pivotal member of the ASOS team, Senior Buyers collaborate with Merchandising, Design, and Technical teams to curate a commercially viable and trend-forward product assortment that resonates with our vibrant 20-something demographic. They embody collaboration, organization, and strategic insight, consistently driving our product range to meet the evolving demands of global markets. In conjunction with the Merchandising team and leveraging essential customer and market insights, Senior Buyers are tasked with achieving sales and profit objectives through a well-defined product strategy.
The Team
Our Buying team is essential to establishing ASOS as the top destination for fashion enthusiasts in their twenties, across both womenswear and menswear categories. Within our Own Buy function, which includes ASOS Design, AsYou, and Collusion, we focus on creating and delivering innovative collections that push boundaries and cater to our customers' needs. By collaborating closely with Design, Merchandising, Marketing, and Garment Technology teams, alongside a diverse global supplier network, our Buyers ensure that the products we offer are of the highest quality.
The Branded Buying teams curate and source a dynamic brand mix for their department, ranging from popular commercial brands to high-end designers and emerging labels, ensuring our customers enjoy the latest fashion trends and a unique market perspective.
Your Responsibilities
- Develop a cohesive product range for the department, ensuring alignment with brand strategy and eliminating gaps or redundancies.
- Collaborate with Design to refine product direction, ensuring consistency with brand and divisional strategies.
- Meet departmental KPIs to enhance margin and profitability, proactively identifying and mitigating risks in partnership with Merchandising.
- Anticipate the preferences of the 20-something customer, utilizing sales and trend data to create commercially viable product assortments that consider global influences.
- Effectively manage trading by pinpointing range gaps and harnessing opportunities that significantly impact departmental performance while managing risk.
- Maintain comprehensive knowledge of planning and trading documents to inform category analysis and the evolution of the buy.
- Initiate cost-saving strategies to enhance cost efficiency.
- Skillfully build ranges by considering options, ALB strategy, and global needs, adapting as necessary throughout the season.
- Work closely with Merchandising to consolidate lessons learned, ensuring buying remains within OTB while influencing trends and performance.
- Foster and leverage relationships with key stakeholders to drive success.
