AECOM is on the lookout for a proactive and skilled Senior Electrical Engineer to join our Denver, Colorado office. This role focuses on supporting mining projects during the planning and design stages, and we welcome candidates with industrial electrical engineering experience, even if they are new to the mining sector.
Key Responsibilities
- Act as a technical advisor and provide specialized input to studies and design projects.
- Develop procedures to ensure high-quality, cost-effective contributions from team members.
- Engage in interdisciplinary reviews of project deliverables.
- Mentor and guide junior engineers.
- Prepare construction cost estimates and technical effort estimates for projects.
- Handle detailed engineering tasks involving calculations and designs.
- Propose innovative solutions to problems by adapting standard procedures.
- Identify discrepancies in results and suggest alternative solutions.
- Lead electrical engineering efforts on medium to large-scale projects.
- Execute work in line with budgets and schedules, with minimal supervision.
- Complete essential design elements independently.
- Conduct quality control reviews of design calculations and drawings.
- Create comprehensive calculation packages for electrical equipment sizing.
- Draft reports in Microsoft Word detailing the technical outcomes of calculations and design packages.
- Engage in early project design work including conceptual studies, electrical loads, equipment selection, and general arrangements.
- Prepare design documents, including equipment specifications and vendor data requirements.
- Carry out detailed technical bid analyses for electrical systems.
- Review vendor shop drawings to ensure compliance with industry standards and project specifications.
- Provide technical expertise for various studies and design tasks.
- Ensure all services meet project requirements on schedule and within budget.
- Communicate effectively and professionally with team members and supervisors.
- Lead project initiatives in electrical engineering and design for multidisciplinary mining projects.
