Join our dynamic team at AECOM as a Senior Electrical Engineer, where you will serve as the Electrical, Controls, and Instrumentation Discipline Lead for our Canadian mining infrastructure design team. We are looking for a highly skilled professional who can utilize their extensive electrical engineering experience to develop innovative, cost-effective solutions that enhance the performance, reliability, and safety of our clients' mining operations.
This role presents an exciting opportunity to engage in diverse projects ranging from preliminary studies to construction services, while collaborating with multidisciplinary teams across Canada, Australia, and beyond. You will also play a key role in client interactions, mentoring junior engineers, and supporting strategic initiatives aimed at expanding our presence in the mining sector.
Key Responsibilities
Engineering Design and Support:
- Develop and optimize electrical systems and equipment for mining and industrial projects encompassing power, control, instrumentation, and communications systems.
- Provide engineering solutions for surface and underground electrical systems, including mine power distribution, ventilation controls, materials handling, and dewatering systems.
- Design and specify electrical reticulation systems, including high-voltage (HV) and low-voltage (LV) distribution networks and substations.
- Prepare and review technical specifications, engineering drawings, and functional descriptions for electrical and control systems.
- Coordinate the functional design of automation systems, including PLCs, DCS, and SCADA for mining operations.
Project Delivery:
- Lead and manage electrical engineering tasks through all project phases from initial scoping to commissioning.
- Ensure project delivery aligns with budget, schedule, and regulatory standards.
- Conduct site assessments to evaluate existing systems and provide hands-on support during project execution.
Client and Stakeholder Collaboration:
- Engage closely with clients to ascertain their operational needs and develop customized engineering solutions.
- Collaborate with internal teams to guarantee seamless project integration.
- Participate in client meetings and design reviews to maintain project alignment.
