In this critical position, the Senior Financial Analyst will prepare and review comprehensive analyses for various business unit leaders, the internal board of directors, and regional reporting. Responsibilities also include accounting, budgeting, and financial analysis activities, alongside the preparation of complex journal entries and advanced reconciliations. The Senior Financial Analyst plays a pivotal role in supporting the finance function of Northwestern Medicine through various special projects.
Key Responsibilities:
- Achieve accounting and financial objectives by preparing and reviewing analyses; identifying and evaluating trends; analyzing variances; and initiating corrective actions or adjustments.
- Compile monthly, quarterly, and annual reports, schedules, commentaries, and supplementary materials for management use.
- Act as a mentor and provide support to finance team members as an informal leader.
- Research and interpret changes in accounting and financial reporting policies, applying insights and recommendations to operational challenges.
- Investigate and understand changes in the regulatory landscape and their potential impact on reporting requirements.
- Review work prepared by colleagues when necessary, including analyses, financial reporting, journal entries, reconciliations, and audit documentation.
- Generate analyses and support for management and operating departments.
- Lead initiatives to assess, modify, and implement processes and systems that enhance efficiency, accuracy, and relevance of information.
- Demonstrate proficiency in computer applications, including databases, spreadsheets, and word processing software within a high-complexity environment.
- Maintain professional and technical expertise through educational workshops, reviewing industry publications, networking, adopting best practices, and participating in professional organizations.
- Safeguard operations by ensuring the confidentiality of financial and patient information.
- Contribute to the finance operations of Northwestern Medicine through designated special projects.
