Your Role:
As a Senior Lead Consultant, you will spearhead Blast Risk Desktop Reviews and, when necessary, Blast Risk Modeling for intricate industrial and energy infrastructure projects. This role involves collecting and analyzing data to pinpoint potential blast and fire hazards at prospective sites, using a structured risk matrix to quantify likelihood and consequences, and advising on effective mitigation strategies. Candidates must be licensed and credentialed in one or more states.
Your Key Responsibilities Include:
- Leading desktop reviews for blast and fire hazards utilizing authoritative sources, existing reports, and geospatial datasets to evaluate blast risks within site boundaries and nearby properties.
- Identifying and mapping all properties or infrastructure that may pose a blast hazard to the subject site, such as natural gas and oil transmission pipelines, fuel depots, petrochemical facilities, and oil refineries. Collaborating with a project-specific GIS team to provide accurate mapping.
- Assessing proximity to conventional and nuclear power stations and outlining necessary emergency exclusion zones or setbacks that could impact operations or access.
- Quantifying risk by calculating impact radii and return periods for possible blast events or pipeline ruptures, while evaluating site vulnerabilities and secondary hazards.
- Conducting blast risk modeling as needed and formulating mitigation recommendations while outlining residual consequences with mitigations in place.
