Under the supervision of management, the Senior Payroll and Personnel Clerk (1222) plays a crucial role in the accurate calculation, verification, and posting of payroll as well as personnel information. This advanced journey-level position stands out within the Payroll and Personnel Clerk classification series, as it encompasses responsibilities that involve complex functions and issues.
Key Responsibilities:
- Act as a lead worker overseeing payroll and personnel clerks along with other clerical staff.
- Calculate, record, and audit payroll and timekeeping data in various systems, ensuring the accuracy of employee work hours, leave credits, pay rate changes, and other payroll-related documentation.
- Analyze and interpret the economic provisions of collective bargaining agreements.
- Generate, interpret, and maintain diverse computer-generated reports to address employees' payroll and personnel discrepancies.
- Respond to employee and departmental inquiries or complaints, either in person, in writing, or by phone, to resolve payroll and personnel transaction issues.
- Prepare various forms, correspondence, inter-departmental memos, and documentation related to payroll and personnel transactions, as well as employment and credit verifications.
- Record routine payroll and personnel transactions in employee records, such as separation reports and leave updates.
- Receive, distribute, and file payroll and personnel reports; maintain organized files and record-keeping systems to ensure thorough documentation of payroll/personnel transactions.
