Position Overview:
The Shift Lead at McAlister’s Deli plays a vital role in the success of our restaurant by assisting in daily operations. This position is responsible for overseeing restaurant functions in the absence of the General Manager or Assistant Manager, ensuring top-notch standards in food quality, service, cleanliness, safety, and sanitation. The Shift Lead will supervise the team and address any issues with staff, food suppliers, and guests as required, escalating to management when necessary.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide effective supervision during assigned shifts.
- Foster a positive atmosphere for both team members and guests.
- Manage front-of-house (FOH) and back-of-house (BOH) operations, including staff scheduling to control labor costs.
- Monitor service speed to enhance guest satisfaction.
- Address guest comments and complaints professionally.
- Ensure McAlister’s quality standards and cleanliness are consistently met.
- Assist in training new hires and existing staff to uphold McAlister’s procedures.
- Enforce uniform policies and standards.
- Adhere to proper cash handling protocols.
- Open and close the restaurant in the absence of upper management.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by management.

Qualifications:
- High School diploma or equivalent.
- At least 1 year of experience in the food service industry; supervisory experience preferred but not mandatory.
- Experience in a fast-paced environment.
- Retail experience is a plus.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-energy, physically demanding environment.
- Must be able to stand for 90% of the workday.
- Ability to sit for 10% of the workday.
- Utilize all sensory capabilities such as vision, hearing, tasting, smelling, touching, and speaking.
