Skilled Carpenter | Ann Arbor
Join Spence Brothers, a leading General Contractor and Construction Manager, as we seek a dedicated Carpenter to support our Southern Michigan operations from our Ann Arbor office.
Key Responsibilities
- Execute journeyman-level rough and finish carpentry tasks with expertise.
- Interpret and follow blueprints and building plans that align with client specifications.
- Proactively identify and troubleshoot potential issues on-site.
- Install structural elements and fixtures, including windows and moldings.
- Measure, cut, and shape wood, plastic, and other materials as required.
- Construct building frameworks, including walls, floors, and door frames.
- Assist in erecting, leveling, and installing frameworks using rigging hardware and cranes.
- Conduct inspections and replace any damaged frameworks or fixtures.
- Set up concrete pours and formwork for slabs, footings, walls, and columns.
- Install doors, frames, and associated hardware.
- Install casework and countertops as directed.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Current Journeyman Carpenter license/certificate as required by state, city, or county regulations.
- At least 2 years of experience in carpentry or a similar role.
- Extensive knowledge of rough and finish carpentry, tools, materials, safety practices, and construction techniques including masonry, concrete, steel, precast, and wood.
- Strong hand-eye coordination, mathematical skills, physical strength, stamina, and attention to detail.
- Basic computer skills are essential.
Work Environment & Physical Demands
- PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) must be worn at all times, including safety vest, protective eyewear, hearing protection, gloves, sleeves as necessary, hard hat, face shield, and approved footwear.
- Physical requirements include climbing, standing, sitting, walking, reaching, bending, balancing, squatting, and kneeling for extended periods. Ability to lift/push/pull weights up to 100 lbs.
- Work on-site at construction locations, which may be indoors or outdoors and could involve heights, exposure to varying weather conditions, loud noises, dust, and fumes.
- Must be adaptable to work in diverse weather conditions.
- Adherence to all OSHA and Spence Brothers safety protocols is mandatory.
