Key Responsibilities:
- Efficiently load components onto the machine table, utilizing both manual and crane/hoist methods.
- Accurately position and secure workpieces, ensuring precise verification of their location.
- Utilize advanced measuring tools, including micrometers, telescoping gauges, Vernier calipers, and dial indicators, to confirm dimensions of machined workpieces.
- Adhere to stringent tolerances of ±0.0005 inches.
- Analyze and interpret technical drawings, manuals, and specifications to ascertain dimensions, tolerances, and the sequence of operations.
- Select the appropriate tooling, gauges, and fixtures based on part drawings for machining processes.
- Diagnose equipment issues and out-of-tolerance machining, making necessary adjustments to ensure product quality.
- Report any machine malfunctions to the supervisor promptly.
- Collaborate with supervisors, engineers, and quality personnel to address machining and quality challenges.
- Choose and set up holding fixtures, cutting tools, and materials on various machines including mills, lathes, and grinders.
- Calculate and adjust machine controls for speed, feed, coolant flow, and cutting parameters.
- Conduct self-inspections to verify conformity of finished products to specifications.
- Maintain a clean and organized work environment, performing basic preventative maintenance on equipment.
- Keep accurate documentation of all tasks completed.
- Meet production goals set by the company while observing all safety protocols.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Completion of machinist training through a vocational or technical school.
- Prior experience in machining, forklift operation, and overhead crane usage.
- Familiarity with equipment used in the oil and gas industry is advantageous.
- Experience with G&M Code programming is a plus.
