The Digital Investigations Lab at Human Rights Watch (HRW) is on the lookout for a passionate Solutions Technologist to bolster our innovative team and enhance our capacity for technology-driven investigations. We are committed to responsibly integrating technology by automating processes, introducing new tools, and developing effective workflows that enable critical investigations that might otherwise be unattainable. The Digital Investigations Lab collaborates closely with HRW’s thematic and regional researchers to conduct thorough human rights investigations.
As a Solutions Technologist, you will engage with researchers to comprehend their workflows and, in conjunction with the Research Technologist and the Information Security and Technology department, design tools that are in harmony with our infrastructure and research necessities, ensuring that technical solutions are secure, scalable, and mission-driven.
Your contributions will be vital in expanding our toolset, crafting essential documentation, and integrating technology into our researchers' daily workflows, thus facilitating new and ambitious cutting-edge projects. We are seeking an individual who is detail-oriented, process-driven, and passionate about building and maintaining enduring technology solutions.
This is a 12-month fixed-term position reporting to the head of Open-Source Research in the Digital Investigations Lab. The role will be based within commuting distance from one of the following HRW offices: London, Amsterdam, Berlin, Brussels, New York, Washington DC, Nairobi, Johannesburg, Sao Paulo, or Stockholm, and you must be willing to work from the office as needed.
