About the job
At Statkraft, one of Sweden's leading electricity producers, we are committed to building a sustainable future. Our Kvistforsen facility operates a vital fish compensation farming initiative, currently managed by two aquaculture specialists. Every year, we produce approximately 100,000 salmon smolts and 24,000 sea trout smolts, significantly contributing to the health of local ecosystems and sustainable fish populations.
We are now seeking a dedicated Aquaculture Technician (Specialist Fish) for a full-time role. This position involves planning, daily operations, maintenance, coordination, and development of our aquaculture activities. You will be an integral part of the NSBE environmental support team, playing a key role in our smolt production for releases in the Skellefte River and beyond.
Key Responsibilities:
- Plan and execute aquaculture activities including sorting, feeding, sampling, breeding work, and ongoing documentation.
- Oversee the daily care of fish and the technical maintenance of the facility, pools, and associated equipment.
- Ensure optimal fish welfare by monitoring growth, behavior, and health.
- Collaborate with colleagues, contractors, and external stakeholders to coordinate operations.
- Participate in the development and enhancement of routines, work methods, and aquaculture techniques.
- Systematically follow safety protocols, as health and safety are core principles at Statkraft.
- Actively contribute to the NSBE environmental support team through relevant projects, monitoring, and dialogue.
This role primarily involves daytime work, requiring both independent responsibility and close collaboration with team members. Additionally, it includes weekend rounds and on-call duties, requiring flexibility and accountability to ensure operational continuity. Typically, staff are expected to complete approximately one weekend of rounds per month and participate in an on-call week.
