About the job
At Vast, we are on a transformative mission to pave the way for humanity's thriving future in space. We are developing cutting-edge space stations designed to ensure a permanent human presence in orbit, enabling groundbreaking microgravity research and manufacturing while contributing to a burgeoning space economy. Our innovative, hardware-focused, and cost-effective approach has accelerated the development of our multi-module Haven Station. Following the successful Haven Demo in 2025, Vast has become the only operational commercial space station company to independently fly and operate its own spacecraft. With Haven-1 poised to be the world’s first commercial space station, we are set to launch additional modules to sustain a permanent human presence by 2030. Our dedicated team is fully committed to achieving our mission with the utmost safety and precision. If you aspire to collaborate with some of the brightest minds in the industry, driving forward the frontiers of space exploration, we invite you to join us.
We are currently seeking a Senior Flight Software Engineer to join our dynamic Flight Software team, reporting directly to the Senior Manager of Flight Software. In this pivotal role, you will support the development and integration of systems necessary for designing and constructing artificial-gravity, human-rated space stations.
This is a full-time, exempt position based in our Long Beach, California office.
Your responsibilities will include developing fault-tolerant software for safety-critical systems while collaborating closely with our avionics team to integrate flight software with avionics hardware. You will be part of a collaborative environment that views the debugging and error-correction process as an opportunity for growth and team strengthening, continually enhancing our workflows and product quality.
