In this position, you will develop the intelligence and infrastructure needed to communicate with our members at optimal times, delivering the right message through the most effective channels. As a Staff Engineer, you will spearhead the technical architecture of our unified communications platform, working alongside Machine Learning Scientists to coordinate outreach via SMS, email, in-app notifications, and nudges, utilizing proprietary data and predictive models.
Your Key Contributions
Design the Communications Engine: Direct the architecture and scaling of a unified communications platform that facilitates member outreach across various channels (SMS, email, push notifications, in-app) with exceptional throughput and minimal latency.
Lead Technical Strategy: Establish and navigate the long-term technical roadmap for proactive outreach in collaboration with product and engineering leadership, balancing immediate implementation with the adaptability needed for future capabilities like Conversational AI.
Implement Intelligent Interventions: Collaborate with ML scientists to design systems that incorporate proprietary models into communication workflows, ensuring outreach is motivated by predictive member behaviors and requirements rather than fixed rules.
Guarantee System Reliability & Scalability: Enhance system performance to assure the reliability and delivery of messages to members, upholding rigorous standards for observability, error management, and member privacy.
Advance Engineering Practices: Establish and refine best practices for CI/CD, automated testing, and monitoring for both software services and ML model performance in production.
Foster Mentorship & Collaboration: Mentor senior and intermediate engineers, nurturing a culture of technical excellence. Build strong cross-functional partnerships across Product, Design, Marketing, and Data Science.
