Archer Aviation, based in San Jose, California, is at the forefront of aerospace innovation, dedicated to developing an all-electric vertical takeoff and landing (eVTOL) aircraft. Our mission is to revolutionize urban air mobility while maintaining a commitment to sustainability and minimal noise pollution. We strive to enhance the accessibility of air travel through cutting-edge technology.
We are passionate about solving complex challenges and believe that a diverse team fosters creativity and drives success. Archer is committed to creating an equitable and inclusive workplace that celebrates the unique contributions of all team members.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and architect advanced state estimation algorithms for eVTOL aircraft, focusing on safety, performance, robustness, and computational efficiency.
- Implement state estimation algorithms primarily using Simulink while adhering to established modeling standards and best practices.
- Integrate state estimation solutions with a variety of hardware components, such as air data systems, Inertial Navigation Systems (INS), Global Navigation Satellite Systems (GNSS), and aviation-grade sensors.
- Develop and synthesize system requirements to drive design processes ensuring cross-functional needs are met.
- Create and execute innovative verification and validation (V&V) strategies for state estimation algorithms, including simulation, hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) testing, and flight testing.
- Develop and refine models to simulate sensor behavior under normal, degraded, and failure conditions.
- Analyze and interpret data from simulation, lab, and flight testing to identify issues and characterize real-world performance.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including control laws, hardware, software, and test engineers, to address complex aircraft-level challenges and ensure seamless integration.
- Build tools and processes to enhance engineering capabilities.
