About the job
IonQ is pioneering the development of the world’s most advanced full-stack quantum computer utilizing trapped-ion technology. We are advancing beyond the limitations of classical physics and current supercomputing capabilities, ushering in a groundbreaking era of computation. Quantum computing is poised to transform various sectors including medicine, materials science, finance, artificial intelligence, machine learning, cryptography, and beyond. IonQ stands at the leading edge of this technological paradigm shift.
We are seeking an experienced Technical Program Manager (TPM) with a strong background in silicon device development, focusing on Quantum Processor Devices. You will lead the execution of new product development programs within our quantum computing roadmap, ensuring that complex technical initiatives are effectively translated into clear plans, measurable milestones, and reliable delivery timelines. As a TPM, you will play a pivotal role within a cross-functional team, collaborating daily with physicists and engineers, while also engaging with external partners and internal stakeholders to maintain a pace of work that prioritizes clarity and meticulous attention to detail.
In this role, you will work closely with the lead TPM, serving as a liaison for cross-functional programs related to QPU with various technical and non-technical teams across the organization. You will establish and maintain an operational rhythm that ensures team alignment and keeps leadership informed: building delivery plans, monitoring dependencies, identifying risks early on, and generating decision-ready reports that senior stakeholders can rely upon. Your responsibilities will also encompass project planning, coordination, risk management, and stakeholder engagement. When faced with shifting priorities or technical challenges, you will provide structure amidst uncertainty; clarifying project scope, facilitating trade-offs, and resolving issues while continuously enhancing our execution methods throughout the hardware lifecycle.
