We are currently looking for a dedicated veterinarian to join our Iowa Division in Ames, Iowa. This vital role involves providing comprehensive veterinary services and support to our wean-to-finish operations in Iowa, which include but are not limited to:
Key Responsibilities:
- Designing and executing effective biosecurity measures.
- Creating strategic health management plans to address various health concerns.
- Implementing and managing vaccination strategies.
- Coordinating diagnostic sample collection and compiling results.
- Ensuring compliance with prescription and VFD record-keeping.
- Assisting in the upkeep of SHIP requirements.
- Maintaining PQA+ advisor certification and providing necessary training.
- Educating caretakers on herd health, biosecurity protocols, and the proper use of antibiotics and vaccines.
Qualifications:
- Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) from an accredited institution or a final-semester DVM student with a focus on swine production.
- Must be licensed or eligible for licensure in the states where Prestage Farms operates (AL, MS, SC, NC, OK, TX, IA).
- This position requires monthly travel to Prestage Farms of Oklahoma to meet interstate swine movement regulations in addition to the responsibilities outlined above.
