Join our team at the City and County of San Francisco as a Stationary Engineer in our Sewage Plant. Under general supervision, you will take on the critical role of plant operator and/or mechanic, ensuring the seamless operation and maintenance of intricate machinery and equipment essential for sewage treatment processes.
Your key responsibilities will include:
- Conducting regular inspections and tests on all plant machinery, maintaining detailed logs of maintenance activities and equipment performance to ensure optimal functionality and safety.
- Handling tasks involving raw sewage, including sample collection and assessments to evaluate treatment efficiency and compliance with NPDES Permit requirements.
- Operating and maintaining a diverse range of machinery, including pumps, heating, and ventilation systems, while performing repairs and preventive maintenance to guarantee reliability and safety.
- Inspecting pipelines and tanks to identify any issues or blockages, ensuring effective wastewater management.
- Monitoring solids treatment and chemical systems, adjusting flow indicators as necessary to ensure optimal treatment outcomes.
- Performing disinfection tests to ensure compliance with regional and state pollution control regulations.
- Assisting in the training and supervision of apprentices or trainees to foster a skilled workforce.
