POSITION OVERVIEW
We are actively looking for a passionate and experienced Commodity Manager to enhance our Strategic Sourcing team based in Winnipeg. This pivotal role will involve steering supplier relationships and crafting sourcing strategies for designated commodities, with an emphasis on cost efficiency, innovation, and performance excellence. Your expertise will be key in forming robust supplier partnerships, managing intricate contract negotiations, and ensuring adherence to both regulatory and internal standards. Candidates must possess strategic thinking capabilities, robust analytical skills, and the ability to influence significant business outcomes through impactful sourcing decisions.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Design and implement supply strategies for assigned commodities, staying updated on new technologies and innovations from suppliers to drive cost efficiencies and product enhancements.
- Evaluate, select, and cultivate supplier relationships with a keen focus on cost, quality, and compliance with New Flyer’s standards. Foster strong alliances and partnerships with strategic suppliers, addressing business issues as necessary.
- Negotiate annual pricing, long-term agreements (LTAs), and tooling costs with suppliers.
- Analyze market trends and cost drivers related to materials and components, providing recommendations for cost reductions and improved methodologies for commodities under your purview.
- Conduct comprehensive spend analysis and market testing to identify opportunities for cost savings.
- Engage in regular business and performance reviews with supplier management to ensure ongoing quality improvement and cost savings.
- Oversee the evaluation, certification, and onboarding of new suppliers.
- Assist the Director of Strategic Sourcing in preparing reports and presentations for senior management.
- Support compliance with Buy America, New York content, DBE goals, and other regulatory requirements.
- Conduct Supplier Risk Assessments as part of the company’s Supplier Risk Management program.
- Ensure accurate maintenance of system costing and pricing for assigned suppliers, including reviewing Purchase Price Variances (PPV).
- Ensure all new parts in assigned commodities meet regulatory and internal standards.
