The TRS Qualified Pension Plan (QPP) is a defined benefit plan that ensures members receive a monthly retirement allowance upon fulfilling specific eligibility criteria. Currently, TRS is seeking a distinguished and strategic General Counsel to act as the agency’s chief legal officer. Reporting directly to the Executive Director, this executive-level role is responsible for overseeing all legal functions within the organization. The General Counsel will offer expert legal guidance to the Board of Trustees, Executive Leadership, and operational units, ensuring adherence to relevant laws, regulations, and policies pertinent to public pension administration.
The successful candidate must possess substantial legal experience, particularly in public sector law, pension systems, and fiduciary governance. We are particularly interested in candidates with a minimum of 10–15 years of progressive legal experience, including leadership roles and active involvement in critical regulatory and policy matters.
