Role Overview
The Relationship Lead (RL) is essential to Packt’s tech publishing ecosystem, facilitating the acquisition of exceptional authors and the implementation of impactful post-publication marketing strategies. This role acts as a vital connector between subject matter experts, developer and IT communities, and Packt’s content objectives. The RL is tasked with identifying influential voices in technology, fostering long-term relationships with authors, and ensuring that each published title gains visibility, engagement, and commercial success across all sales channels.
This strategic, outward-facing position requires a unique combination of interpersonal skills, product insight, DevRel marketing expertise, and a passion for community building within the technology sector.
We value a proven track record in creating or guiding developer-focused learning resources in web and mobile contexts. A curiosity for application development and emerging AI practices is highly encouraged. While specialization is not required, experience in shaping effective learning resources and a robust network of experts will contribute to your success in this role.This is NOT a sales position.
Key Responsibilities
High-Status Author Acquisition & Engagement
- Identify and proactively engage with influential tech professionals, thought leaders, and practitioners to attract them as potential authors.
- Present compelling publishing opportunities to experts, aligning with their personal brand and career aspirations.
- Negotiate author contracts and manage the onboarding process to ensure clarity, enthusiasm, and a strong collaborative foundation.
- Act as the primary contact for authors, guiding them through the publication journey.
- Develop long-term relationships to promote repeat authorship and ambassador-level partnerships.
Community Engagement and Outreach:
- Collaborate closely with Growth Leads and Content Engineers to enhance community participation and promote awareness of titles.
