Position Overview: Structural Project Engineer
Our East Lansing, MI division is actively seeking a Structural Project Engineer to contribute to diverse and complex bridge projects. The ideal candidate will possess a Professional License in Michigan and have collaborative experience focused on the design, load rating, and inspection of bridge structures, with a preference for those who have worked on MDOT projects.
Your Impact
- Conduct structural analysis and design for MDOT bridge projects, encompassing new construction, rehabilitation, and replacement while adhering to the MDOT Bridge Design Guide (BDG) and AASHTO LRFD specifications.
- Prepare comprehensive structural calculations, design drawings, and technical specifications.
- Perform load rating analyses utilizing MDOT-approved methods and software.
- Review and interpret survey data, geotechnical reports, and roadway alignments to underpin structural design.
- Collaborate with roadway, hydraulics, geotechnical, and environmental teams to formulate integrated project solutions.
- Provide technical support throughout project development, from conceptualization to final design and construction.
- Engage in quality control (QC) reviews of structural calculations, drawings, and reports.
- Assist in preparing project cost estimates and construction timelines.
- Evaluate shop drawings, contractor submittals, and RFIs to ensure compliance with project specifications.
- Conduct site visits for bridge inspections, construction monitoring, and field verification.
