As a key member of our Industrial Crane and Product Engineering team, the Structural Engineer plays a pivotal role in designing and supporting crane runway systems. This position primarily focuses on the engineering of crane runway structures, including the generation of detailed design drawings when necessary. You will serve as an engineering resource, providing expert support on structural topics during the quoting and selling phases, as well as throughout the installation and commissioning processes.
Reporting directly to the Industrial Crane and Product Engineering Manager, your responsibilities will encompass:
- Conducting engineering calculations to determine the stresses experienced by crane runway structures, employing knowledge of various static, dynamic, and fatigue failure theories according to industry standards.
- Assessing the static and dynamic strength, as well as the fatigue life, of structural steel runway systems in compliance with regulations for both the United States and Canada.
- Utilizing RISA 3D, vendor software, KC developed programs, and other analytical tools to carry out and present structural calculations that adhere to AISC, ASCE, CSA, and CMAA specifications.
- Possessing a solid understanding of ASCE and IBC codes, particularly in relation to seismic conditions.
- Providing expert support to customers and team members when troubleshooting issues that arise during installation, commissioning, or the warranty period of a project.
- Occasionally assisting the sales team during the quotation phase of complex projects by offering guidance on design options.
- Engaging in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance project outcomes.
