About the job
Are you a motivated student eager to gain practical experience at one of the Netherlands' premier international law firms? Do you have a keen interest in corporate law and want to immerse yourself in De Brauw's dynamic culture? If so, our student traineeship offers an excellent opportunity for you!
Your Role as a Student Trainee
This traineeship is designed to provide you with valuable insights into our firm and its operations, allowing you to understand the daily responsibilities of our lawyers. As a student trainee, you will engage in legal research for ongoing cases while sharing an office with one of our lawyers. This setup encourages you to ask questions and accompany them to court hearings and client meetings. You will learn on the job through regular interactions with a partner and a senior associate, as well as collaborate with colleagues from various practice groups. Additionally, you will have the chance to participate in our educational and social programs, tailored to enhance your overall experience.
The Practice
Our firm is known for handling a significant number of high-profile cases, focusing on dispute and risk management, and providing a comprehensive litigation practice that serves many of the top 100 companies based in the Netherlands. Our client matters often draw public attention and involve high political sensitivity. Our team specializes in diverse areas of law, including corporate law, contract law, and disciplinary law. We assist clients with inquiry proceedings, civil disputes before the Dutch Supreme Court, financial conflicts (such as those involving shares and derivatives), and cases at the Enterprise Chamber. The practice is extensive and collaborates closely with other departments, offering you the chance to work on commercial litigation, ESG issues, and arbitration.
In our firm, the Arbitration and Corporate Litigation practice groups function as a cohesive team. As a student trainee, you may find yourself involved in cases from both areas due to the significant overlap in our work. While you can indicate a preference for either Arbitration or Corporate Litigation during the application process, we typically consider all trainees as potential candidates for both fields. This approach ensures you receive a well-rounded experience and are exposed to a wide range of complex disputes.
