Supervising Attorney
The American Civil Liberties Union of New Jersey (ACLU-NJ) is actively seeking qualified candidates with a minimum of eight years of legal experience for a full-time Supervising Attorney position. This role involves overseeing and enhancing the legal department's federal litigation practice, particularly focusing on immigrant rights. This position is initially funded for three years, with the potential for future extension. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in leading federal civil rights litigation.
This is a significant opportunity to contribute to an organization that is making impactful changes in the lives of individuals throughout New Jersey. The ACLU-NJ engages in integrated advocacy on various crucial issues, including immigrants’ rights, criminal law reform, democracy and voting rights, as well as other civil rights and liberties. The individual hired for this role will dedicate a considerable amount of time to supporting litigation for immigrants’ rights in federal courts, while also managing attorneys focused on these issues. Responsibilities may extend to other cases in different teams, adapting to the evolving needs of the Legal Department.
This position reports directly to the Legal Director and is based in Newark, offering a hybrid work schedule with in-office attendance required on Tuesdays and Wednesdays.
