Role Overview:
The Supply Chain Buyer is an essential tactical role focused on executing purchase orders, monitoring inbound materials, and proactively managing overdue and at-risk shipments. This position collaborates daily with suppliers, carriers, and internal teams to expedite material delivery, resolve logistical challenges, and safeguard production schedules and customer commitments.
Core Responsibilities:
Tactical Buying & Order Management
- Create, release, and manage purchase orders based on Jira requests and MRP signals aligned with production needs.
- Maintain accurate and current open order, overdue, and shortage reports.
- Adjust purchase orders and priorities proactively to accommodate shifting production demands.
Expediting & Past-Due Shipment Recovery
- Identify and act on late and at-risk inbound shipments with immediate recovery strategies.
- Engage suppliers to secure firm commitment dates and recovery plans.
- Coordinate partial shipments, alternative sourcing, or expedited freight as necessary.
- Escalate critical shortages with detailed impact assessments, options, and recommendations.
Inbound Logistics Coordination
- Collaborate directly with logistics teams, freight forwarders, and carriers to ensure effective shipment execution.
- Resolve issues related to missed pickups, transit delays, and documentation errors.
- Track shipments from the supplier's dock to receipt.
Production & Stakeholder Support
- Act as the primary contact for inbound constrained materials and communicate availability.
- Provide timely updates on material status and shortages.
