What do we expect from you?
Under the general supervision of the head chef or sushi chef, you will be responsible for consistently maintaining a high standard of culinary quality. Your role includes ensuring that food costs are kept within budget and contributing innovative menu ideas.
What does your day look like?
- Assess the quality, flavor, and presentation of all food items before service by tasting and smelling them. Communicate any issues to the head chef or sous-chef.
- Follow established methods for food preparation, cooking, portion control, sauce mixing, and food garnishing.
- Ensure that food preparation complies with the standards set by the executive chef, head sushi chef, or sous-chef.
- Set up your workstation according to the guidelines provided by the executive chef, while working either independently or with others.
- Manage customer relations by ensuring all orders are processed accurately.
- Adhere to professional health and safety standards, ensuring food is stored at safe temperatures using thermometers.
- Attend all scheduled staff meetings as required.
- Fulfill closing duties as instructed by the head chef or sous-chef.
- Perform additional job-related tasks as needed.
- Maintain a professional appearance and adhere to Morimoto's standards.
- Demonstrate excellent knowledge of basic kitchen equipment and the ability to read, translate, and execute recipes in English.
- Exhibit strong customer service skills and organizational abilities to effectively plan your time.
