The Telecommunications Design Engineer will play a pivotal role in the design, configuration, implementation, and ongoing support of ICT and telecommunications infrastructure within Rendeavour's expansive development portfolio. This position requires a profound understanding of fiber optic networks, ISP core network architecture, and contemporary telecommunications systems to ensure secure, reliable, and scalable connectivity solutions for residents, businesses, and industries in our master-planned cities.
The ideal candidate will be responsible for designing and maintaining robust telecommunications infrastructure, including FTTH networks utilizing GPON and active Ethernet technologies. The role involves managing network operations to achieve an uptime of over 99.9%, collaborating with utilities engineering teams to provide exceptional connectivity. Key responsibilities include constructing, maintaining, and updating both cloud and on-premises infrastructure with a strong focus on security, data confidentiality, system integrity, availability, and reliability.
Key Responsibilities
- Telecommunications Network Design & Architecture - Develop comprehensive telecom infrastructure designs, encompassing fiber, wireless, and data centers, create network topologies, produce technical documentation, conduct site surveys, and perform capacity and performance evaluations.
- Network Infrastructure Implementation & Management - Oversee daily operations, monitoring, and support for LAN, WAN, wireless, and VPN networks while ensuring security measures are in place. Configure and manage GPON/XG-PON, Ethernet networks, and core routing protocols such as OSPF, EIGRP, BGP, and MPLS, implementing QoS policies to enhance traffic prioritization and optimize network performance.
- Fiber Optic Network Operations & Maintenance - Diagnose and resolve fiber outages on GPON and Ethernet networks in collaboration with utility teams, utilizing OTDR testing for diagnostics. Administer fiber assets including FDHs, ODFs, and splitters, coordinate with civil teams during installations, and establish preventive maintenance programs.
- ISP Core Network & Connectivity Management - Design and oversee ISP core infrastructure, including border routers, switches, and peering configurations. Optimize BGP routing, enforce security protocols, manage bandwidth, and ensure redundancy for uninterrupted connectivity.
- Systems Integration & Technical Infrastructure - Administer ERP systems, databases, and integrations; configure RADIUS/AAA; implement monitoring solutions; maintain secure cloud and on-premises infrastructure; leverage AWS, Azure, and Google Cloud for hybrid and disaster recovery solutions.
- Performance Management & Compliance - Ensure system uptime exceeds 99.9%, oversee KPI monitoring, maintain compliance standards, and conduct audits for Rendeavour's ICT systems.
