AECOM is looking for a skilled and motivated Traction Power Engineer to become a vital part of our New England Transit Group, with the opportunity to work from one of our regional offices in New England. The ideal candidate will possess a comprehensive understanding of third rail systems along with expertise in conducting load flow studies and analysis.
The key responsibilities of this role involve preparing design drawings, technical specifications, cost estimates, proposals, and calculations related to traction power systems for electrified railways, both AC and DC. This position will not only include project work but also offer the chance to act as a technical leader.
Key Responsibilities:
Oversee and mentor drafters/designers and junior engineers in creating various technical documents including single-line diagrams, wiring diagrams, SCADA systems, and substation layouts.
Conduct protective relay settings and coordination studies.
Implement grounding design, load flow, harmonic studies, and voltage drop analysis using specialized software.
Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations as well as AREMA standards and the National Electric Code (NFPA 70).
Collaborate closely with other system disciplines to develop duct bank drawings and assist in CAD for BIM clash detection.
Provide value engineering insights for traction power systems.
Review and assess designs created by team members.
Coordinate with various technical disciplines including communications, electrical, mechanical, civil, and structural engineering.
Collaborate with Senior Traction Power Engineers.
Maintain a focus on constructability throughout the design process.
