The Team You’ll Work With:
This position falls under the Deputy Mayor for Operations, who oversees an extensive range of City Agencies, including the Departments of Citywide Administration Services, Design & Construction, Environmental Protection, Parks and Recreation, Records, Sanitation, Technology & Innovation, and Transportation, alongside the New York City Fire Department and NYC Emergency Management. The Deputy Mayor also supervises various Mayor’s Offices focused on Capital Project Delivery, Climate & Environmental Justice, Environmental Coordination, Data & Analytics, Contract Services, Nonprofit Services, and Operations.
The Problems You’ll Solve:
As a Policy Advisor, reporting to a Senior Advisor, your responsibilities will include:
- Acting as a liaison between the Deputy Mayor's Office and the Departments of Parks & Recreation and Transportation.
- Promoting Administration priorities in transportation planning, safe streets initiatives, and enhancing access to open spaces.
- Facilitating inter-agency collaboration to ensure effective project and program execution.
- Providing project management support, particularly for sensitive and high-profile initiatives.
- Collaborating with agency personnel to implement streamlined schedules, budgets, and deliverables while addressing challenges.
- Assisting in the implementation of strategic guidance shared with various agencies.
- Working with Intergovernmental Affairs and Legislative Affairs at city, state, and federal levels to address inquiries from elected officials and support public engagement efforts.
- Cultivating positive relationships with stakeholders, including nonprofits, community organizations, and advocates.
- Drafting, editing, and coordinating briefings, memos, and presentations that convey complex policy matters effectively.
- Coordinating across Deputy Mayor teams to monitor projects and manage daily operational issues.
About You:
- You possess prior experience in government.
- You have a background in planning and stakeholder relations.
- You bring expertise in business operations, process design, and project management.
