We are looking for an Underwriting and Regulatory Counsel to provide legal, underwriting, and regulatory direction for Southwest Land Title (SWLT) and Blueprint Title as we continue our national expansion.
Role Overview
The Underwriting and Regulatory Counsel will act as the principal underwriting and regulatory authority, offering support to both Southwest Land Title and Blueprint Title operations. This position merges traditional underwriting counsel duties with regulatory strategy, compliance supervision, and operational assistance for our swiftly growing multi-state title platform.
You will evaluate the insurability of intricate transactions, provide advice on compliance and regulatory issues, oversee licensing and audits, facilitate market expansion, and create operational knowledge resources for title and escrow teams.
This role demands a professional who is both strategic and execution-oriented, adept at advising leadership while ensuring that daily regulatory and underwriting functions are executed seamlessly.
The Underwriting and Regulatory Counsel will report to the General Counsel at PLACE and work collaboratively with Operations, Escrow, Title, Finance, and Executive Leadership at Blueprint Title.
Key Responsibilities
Underwriting & Transaction Risk
Act as the Underwriting and Regulatory Counsel to Southwest Land Title and Blueprint, delivering legal and underwriting expertise across operations.
Responsibilities include:
- Assessing and determining the insurability of real estate transactions
- Reviewing and approving limit-breach requests and other underwriting exceptions
- Offering guidance on complex title issues, risk analysis, and underwriting standards
