A prominent, high-acuity acute care hospital in Houston, Texas is searching for a distinguished Vice President of Emergency Services. This executive role will provide comprehensive leadership across adult and pediatric emergency departments, as well as multiple freestanding emergency facilities.
The Vice President will be accountable for strategic planning, operational excellence, quality outcomes, physician engagement, and financial oversight for a complex, high-volume emergency services operation.
Key Responsibilities:
Clinical Quality & Operations
Develop and implement evidence-based clinical strategies that enhance patient safety, improve quality outcomes, and ensure regulatory compliance.
Standardize emergency care practices to minimize variation, enhance throughput, and optimize efficiency.
Lead patient flow initiatives including capacity planning, volume forecasting, and surge management.
Ensure adherence to all legal, regulatory, and accreditation standards.
Direct nursing practices, operational policies, and standards of care in the emergency department.
Service & Patient Experience
Advocate for a patient- and family-centered approach to emergency care.
Design and implement strategies that promote service excellence and enhance patient satisfaction and community reputation.
Utilize performance metrics and patient feedback to foster continuous improvement.
People Leadership
Cultivate a high-performance, accountability-driven leadership culture.
Oversee recruitment, development, engagement, and retention of emergency services leaders and staff.
Mentor directors and managers to establish a robust leadership pipeline.
Ensure efficient staffing models and manage labor productivity.
Growth & Strategy
Lead strategic planning and business development initiatives for service lines.
Collaborate with physicians and administrative leaders to expand services and develop new offerings in emergency care.
Monitor healthcare trends and reimbursement changes to maintain market competitiveness.
Build and maintain strong external relationships to enhance referral networks and community presence.
Financial Management
Establish and manage operating and capital budgets aligned with organizational goals.
Assess ROI for capital investments and growth initiatives.
Identify cost-reduction opportunities while maintaining clinical excellence.
Oversee labor management and resource optimization.
