Texas Nursing Services is in search of a highly experienced Vice President of Emergency Services to spearhead leadership initiatives across a complex, multi-site emergency services line within a prominent acute care environment. This executive position is pivotal in shaping strategic planning, operational performance, clinical quality, patient experience, workforce engagement, and financial stewardship across our adult and pediatric emergency services as well as freestanding emergency departments.
The ideal candidate will possess recent Director-level experience in Emergency Services within a high-volume, trauma-capable setting and have a proven track record of successfully guiding large, multidisciplinary teams through phases of growth, transformation, and performance enhancement.
Responsibilities
Executive Leadership & Strategy
- Lead the formulation and implementation of strategic and business plans for emergency services.
- Identify opportunities for growth, service differentiation strategies, and operational improvements.
- Collaborate with executive leadership and physicians to enhance emergency services' performance and market positioning.
Clinical Quality, Safety & Throughput
- Establish and maintain evidence-based standards of emergency care.
- Drive initiatives for patient safety, clinical quality improvement, and regulatory compliance.
- Oversee strategies for patient throughput including capacity planning, patient flow optimization, and admission/discharge coordination.
Patient Experience & Service Excellence
- Promote a culture focused on patient-centered care and service excellence.
- Utilize patient experience data and benchmarks to propel improvement initiatives.
- Ensure alignment, engagement, and operational ease for physicians within emergency services.
People Leadership & Talent Development
- Assemble and lead a high-performing emergency services leadership team.
- Foster workforce engagement, leadership development, succession planning, and retention.
- Mentor leaders to achieve accountability, operational excellence, and team performance.
Financial & Operational Stewardship
- Develop and oversee operating and capital budgets consistent with strategic objectives.
- Manage labor, optimize productivity, and oversee premium pay.
- Identify cost-reduction opportunities while ensuring clinical excellence and access.
External & Community Engagement
- Build strategic relationships to enhance referral networks and community partnerships.
- Monitor external trends including regulatory changes, reimbursement models, and competitive dynamics.
- Position emergency services to adapt to evolving healthcare delivery models.
