About the job
About the Role
As a Visual Design Engineer at Sim, you will take the lead in crafting and advancing our innovative platform for building AI agents. This is where developers come to design, connect, and deploy their AI creations. Your expertise will guide the entire process—from the architectural framework to the refined user interactions—defining how thousands of developers engage with our tools. Your role will integrate UI/UX design with engineering principles, influencing the core interface and real-time systems that power our product.
Often likened to 'Figma for AI agents', you will elevate our platform further, enhancing its capabilities, user enjoyment, and efficiency as developers’ workflows become more intricate. Collaborating closely with engineering, design, and product teams, you will ensure a smooth agent-building experience from conception to launch.
This is a pivotal position where you will establish benchmarks for visual design, interaction methodologies, and UI responsiveness. In our agile team environment, your influence will extend to all user interactions, allowing for the rapid deployment of impactful features.
What You'll Do
Lead the design and development of Sim's dynamic visual canvas—the real-time, drag-and-drop editor that is central to our platform.
Architect and implement user-friendly UI systems tailored for complex agent-building workflows.
Design seamless interactions for developers to create, test, debug, and deploy agents within the product.
Maintain a fast, beautiful, and resilient user experience as workflows expand in complexity.
Ensure visual correspondence with execution: what users perceive should match the operational output.
Establish standards for front-end code, component architecture, design systems, and user ergonomics.
Collaborate across the stack in our Next.js monorepo, delivering updates to production on a daily basis.
Define and enhance UX/UI patterns, focusing on developer satisfaction.
What We’re Looking For
A design-oriented engineer with robust experience in React and TypeScript.
A strong intuition for UI/UX—your focus is on both aesthetics and functionality.
Experience in developing intricate, interactive frontend systems such as canvas editors and collaborative tools.
Demonstrated ability to create polished, user-centric developer tools.
Comprehensive knowledge of front-end performance, animation, and responsiveness.
A proactive mindset with a strong sense of ownership—helping shape the roadmap as well as executing it.
