PRIMARY OBJECTIVE:
The Voice and Data Engineer will uphold the technical integrity of various communication infrastructures, including Data networks (WANs/LANs/MANs, and low-speed data), Voice systems (PBX, voicemail, conference bridges, and radio networks - PTP, MAS, VHF, & UHF), Video Conferencing, and problem resolution for IXC, LEC, and CLEC. This role requires a high level of technical proficiency across multiple infrastructure areas. Responsibilities will encompass installation, scheduled maintenance, and troubleshooting of all telecommunications equipment and networks within a specified region. The position will serve as the lead for various activities and act as a direct point of contact for customers regarding IT processes.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Install, maintain, and repair network infrastructure, including:
- Local Area Network (LAN) equipment
- Wide Area Network (WAN) equipment & circuits
- Telephone systems (PBX, hybrid key systems, and non-KSU systems)
- Voice processing and computerized telephone technology
- Microwave radio equipment
- VHF/UHF radio equipment, mobile cellular phones, and paging infrastructure
- Video teleconferencing technology
- Fiber optic cable systems
- UPS systems and both AC and DC systems
- Other electronic equipment as required
- Act as PBX and voicemail administrator
- Collaborate with telephone companies and internal teams to install and repair telephone circuits
- Coordinate telecommunications capital projects
- Ensure compliance with FCC guidelines for microwave and radio systems
- Provide first-level client PC support
- Deliver electronic technical support for engineering and other departments
- Assist in the operation and repair of SCADA and electronic measurement systems
- Work with Central Network personnel on router, hub, and channel bank configurations
- Build infrastructure cabling systems using both fiber and metallic mediums.
