Key Responsibilities
Chlorination & Disinfection
Execute the chlorination of new and repaired water mains using approved methodologies.
Calculate appropriate chlorine doses, volumes, and retention times.
Effectively neutralise and dispose of chlorinated water with certified de-chlorination methods.
Take water samples following chlorination for laboratory evaluation and maintain precise testing records.
Pressure Testing
Perform hydrostatic pressure tests on mains and services with calibrated equipment.
Confirm pressures, durations, and maximum allowable drops according to standards.
Detect and report any leaks or integrity concerns promptly.
Document all tests accurately, ensuring compliance with certification requirements.
Water Quality Compliance
Comply with NWG protocols and United Infrastructure operational standards.
Uphold high hygiene standards, including pipe cleanliness and contamination control.
Assist site teams in proper pipe storage, capping, and protection procedures.
Documentation & Reporting
Complete chlorination certificates, sampling logs, and pressure test documentation.
Submit reports to planners, commissioning engineers, and NWG representatives.
Keep meticulous records for auditing and compliance checks.
Equipment Management
Operate and maintain chlorination rigs, pumps, and testing apparatus.
Inspect hoses, connections, and backflow prevention devices for compliance.
Report any defects and ensure all equipment remains certified and safe for use.
Health, Safety & Environmental
Adhere to NWG and United Infrastructure safety protocols, including Zero Harm principles.
Conduct risk assessments and comply with COSHH, PUWER, and HSG47 regulations.
Handle and store chemicals responsibly to prevent environmental harm through effective wastewater management.
