Key Responsibilities:
- Blueprint Interpretation & Measurement:
- Interpret intricate blueprints, drawings, and specifications to assess dimensions, cuts, and assembly techniques.
- Accurately measure and mark dimensions on various materials to ensure precision before cutting.
- Woodworking & Machinery Operation:
- Set up and operate advanced woodworking machinery, including power saws, jointers, mortisers, tenoners, molders, and shapers to shape wood and wood alternatives.
- Precisely cut and trim wood and other materials to specific sizes and shapes using hand tools and machinery.
- Assembly & Construction:
- Assemble components and secure parts using adhesives, dowels, nails, screws, or clamps to create finished units.
- Reinforce joints and ensure components fit tightly together for superior quality.
- Install hardware such as hinges, handles, and drawer pulls with hand tools.
- Finishing & Detailing:
- Smooth surfaces or joints through sanding, scraping, and trimming to prepare for finishing.
- Apply protective or decorative finishes such as stains, varnishes, or paints to completed items.
- Conduct final touch-ups using sandpaper or steel wool for an immaculate finish.
- Quality Control:
- Inspect dimensions, quality, and fit of components to verify compliance with specifications.
- Monitor workpieces for accuracy and defects throughout the production process.
- Make necessary adjustments to ensure perfect fit and finish of components.
- Material Estimation & Planning:
- Estimate production material requirements and procure necessary supplies.
- Select materials that match in color, grain, and texture to maintain consistency across finished products.
- Repair & Alteration:
- Repair and modify wooden furniture, cabinetry, fixtures, and other wood products as required.
- Customer Specifications & Design:
- Collaborate with customers or designers to establish project specifications and requirements.
- Utilize computer-aided design software to create furniture and wood product designs as needed.
