Join Our Team as a Supervisor for the Outland Youth Employment Program!

As a Supervisor in the Outland Youth Employment Program (OYEP), you will play a vital role in ensuring the safety, supervision, and overall well-being of both youth participants and staff throughout the program's duration. Your responsibilities will include maintaining a clean, organized, and professional camp environment at all times. This live-in leadership position requires overseeing a full cohort at the site level during the summer program. You will thrive in a remote, land-based setting with rustic cabin-style accommodations and shared facilities, showcasing your adaptability and comfort in a communal living space.
In this role, you will provide steadfast supervision and guidance to staff and participants, helping them navigate questions, problem-solving scenarios, and other challenges that may arise. You will establish and uphold a safe, structured, and predictable environment for all camp operations; ensure adherence to the program schedule; make final decisions on disciplinary matters; and clarify roles, responsibilities, and behavioral expectations for all staff and participants.
Additionally, you will support youth development by coaching participants on workplace expectations, conflict resolution, and personal growth opportunities. Many Rangers are embarking on their first job experience, and your role will be crucial in modeling professionalism, accountability, and workplace readiness.
As a Supervisor, you will also be expected to serve as a positive and productive role model for youth at all times. You will uphold and promote culturally respectful practices at the site, collaborating with community partners, Elders, and Knowledge Keepers as appropriate. This includes facilitating culturally grounded activities and ceremonies in accordance with community leadership.
You will work closely with the Operations Manager to ensure safety and quality programming throughout the summer.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Providing active oversight and assistance in all work projects and classroom sessions to ensure safety, productivity, and learning outcomes are achieved.
- Maintaining and enforcing Outland’s workplace health and safety regulations and emergency response procedures.
- Timely reporting of near misses, hazards, and safety incidents.
- Leading incident management and supporting emergency responses as necessary.
- Monitoring staff and Rangers’ compliance with safe operating procedures and PPE usage.
Vehicle & Equipment Safety
- Ensuring safe operation and oversight of all program vehicles, boats, tools, and equipment.
- Maintaining awareness of vehicle and equipment maintenance needs and reporting deficiencies promptly.
