About the Role

The ideal candidate will engage in thorough research, investigative reporting, and the production of compelling news and current affairs content tailored for both television and digital platforms.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conceiving story ideas and following leads from various sources, including news agencies, law enforcement, public inquiries, press conferences, and other outlets.
  • Proposing story ideas to chief editors.
  • Conducting comprehensive research, verifying facts, and gathering relevant information to support journalistic endeavors using various sources such as online databases and archives.
  • Identifying and coordinating necessary resources, managing technical teams for on-location shoots, including sound operators and camera crews.
  • Providing direction and guidance to crews on filming and recording procedures.
  • Utilizing portable digital video (DV) cameras and other equipment to capture high-quality footage.
  • Creating complete news packages for broadcast.
  • Preparing and presenting news content 'on air' for both pre-recorded and live segments.
  • Identifying potential interview subjects, preparing interview questions, and conducting both live and recorded interviews.
  • Collaborating closely with editors to assemble the final program or news item.
  • Building and maintaining local contacts, while also taking on public relations responsibilities.
  • Understanding and adhering to media laws and industry ethical standards.
