The Journeyperson Electrician, reporting to the Site Supervisor, is responsible for the maintenance, upgrade, and installation of electrical systems in various industrial environments. This vital position involves everything from wiring and installation to equipment setups and ensuring compliance with safety regulations. The successful candidate will interpret drawings, blueprints, and electrical code specifications while inspecting electrical systems and components to identify and rectify defects, ensuring compliance with relevant codes. This role also includes mentoring and performance evaluation of Electrician Apprentices.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct the installation of electrical wiring, conduits, cable trays, and fixtures in buildings, industrial facilities, and infrastructure projects, ensuring safety and precision.
- Install electrical panels, switchgear, control systems, and distribution boards to efficiently manage and distribute electrical power.
- Manage the installation of electrical equipment such as motors, generators, transformers, and lighting systems, contributing to construction projects and facility improvements.
- Develop robust power distribution networks, including cable laying and transformer installation, ensuring reliable power supply.
- Implement rigorous grounding and bonding of electrical systems to mitigate hazards and maintain safety standards.
- Perform routine maintenance, troubleshoot electrical issues, and swiftly resolve faults, minimizing downtime.
- Adhere to the Canadian Electrical Code (CEC) and other applicable standards and regulations to maintain legal compliance.
- Demonstrate a comprehensive understanding of lockout-tagout procedures and safety protocols in industrial settings.
- Operate construction equipment such as skid steers, mini hoes, manlifts, and zoom booms.
- Follow Rising Edge Technologies Ltd.’s Health and Safety Manual and comply with industry safety regulations.
- Lead, supervise, mentor, and train Electrical Apprentices in safely and effectively addressing technical challenges.
