As a Laser Engineer, you will utilize your specialized knowledge to design, construct, modify, and operate both new and existing pulsed laser systems. Your role will involve optimizing these systems by enhancing laser beam quality and collaborating with vendors to acquire essential hardware for specific upgrades. You will also assist optics engineers in aligning intricate laser beam paths, calibrating diagnostic equipment, and identifying opportunities for improved diagnostics. Writing specifications and collaborating with vendors to develop cutting-edge high-energy laser diagnostics will be key elements of your role. Additionally, you will maintain laser systems by realigning, diagnosing issues, and coordinating with vendors to resolve malfunctions swiftly. Conducting spectroscopic experiments, collecting and processing data, and working closely with experimentalists, theorists, optics engineers, and controls engineers will ensure the reliability of the systems in supporting experimental objectives.
