About the job

As a Lead Electrical Design Engineer, you will be pivotal in the design and development of electrical systems for cutting-edge Data Center projects. Collaborating closely with senior engineers, this role demands a profound understanding of engineering calculations, technical drawings, and meticulous documentation, providing you with comprehensive exposure to the entire lifecycle of data center projects. If you possess robust electrical system design experience ranging from LoD200 to LoD400, even without prior experience in Data Centers, we encourage you to apply.

Experience
5 to 10 years in Electrical Design, including a minimum of 2 years focused on Data Centers.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design & Engineering Support: Lead the complete design of Data Center Electrical Systems from conceptualization through to detailed design, including the preparation of RFPs and technical specifications for all components:
    • Medium Voltage (MV) and Low Voltage (LV) distribution systems from the substation to the Data Hall
    • Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS) systems, Diesel Generator (DG) systems, and electrical rooms
    • Power distribution systems within the Data Hall
  • Prepare detailed documentation including:
    • Single Line Diagrams (SLDs) with comprehensive details for IT loads, mechanical loads, and house power as per TIA-942 specifications and client needs.
    • Electrical layouts covering substations to MV and LV, UPS rooms, and cable routing.
  • Conduct essential calculations such as load calculations, cable sizing, voltage drop calculations, and Power Usage Effectiveness (PUE) audits.

Drawings & BIM Coordination

  • Generate AutoCAD drawings and assist with Revit models.
  • Coordinate with mechanical, architectural, and structural teams to design power distribution for IT loads, mechanical equipment, and overall building loads.
  • Engage in clash detection and design coordination efforts.

Documentation Support

  • Oversee the preparation of:
    • Bill of Quantities (BOQs)
    • Cable schedules
    • Equipment schedules
    • Technical specifications
    • Sequence of Operations
    • Earthing points and pits
    • Responses to technical RFIs from vendors during the RFP process
    • Maintain revisions of drawings and ensure documentation quality
    • Quality check and assurance of work produced by team members.

Project Delivery Support

  • Engage with clients in technical discussions, gathering input, explaining designs, and debating optimal solutions.
  • Implement design inputs from senior engineers and address review comments with revised designs.
  • Support vendor drawing reviews and submittals.

Construction & Commissioning Exposure

  • Assist with site queries and provide support during construction and commissioning phases.
