About the job
Simpsons Malt is the foremost independent malting company in the UK, boasting over 150 years of excellence in supplying high-quality malt to brewers and distillers, ranging from small craft breweries to multinational corporations. Our Tivetshall site specializes in malt production for brewers in the UK and globally.
If you have a passion for science and an eagerness to apply your knowledge in a hands-on environment, this role offers you the opportunity to take pride in delivering top-quality products. This position will be situated within a small laboratory team and provides significant scope for personal and professional growth, guiding and supervising a colleague, establishing processes, and gradually expanding quality responsibilities from the lab into production processes and site auditing.
The laboratory at our Tivetshall site comprises a dedicated team of technicians involved in the entire production process, conducting tests on barley and other cereals upon arrival, performing in-process testing during malting and roasting, and finally verifying that the malt adheres to our customers' specifications.
This is a fantastic opportunity to build a rewarding career within the laboratory or leverage the expertise gained to transition into other functions or production roles.
We seek candidates with a methodical approach, a calm demeanor, and a keen attention to detail. While science-based qualifications are beneficial, your ability to analyze data and communicate results effectively is crucial. A collaborative spirit and a focus on continuous improvement will help you address challenges and enhance quality. Ideally, you will possess laboratory experience and familiarity with a Quality Management System, including data trending and responsiveness to changing priorities to support production.
Integrity, honesty, and a strong desire to 'get things done' are essential personal attributes.
This role supports production operations with a shift schedule of four weekdays and one weekend morning shift, so candidates should only apply if they can accommodate this pattern.
The successful candidate will receive:
- A competitive salary and annual bonus, depending on qualifications and experience.
- Leading market pension, sickness, and life insurance benefits.
- 31-34 days of holiday, including bank holidays.
When applying, please share your reasons for believing we would be a great fit for your skills and interests, along with your salary expectations.
