About the Role
In this vital position, you will spearhead the establishment, evaluation, and dissemination of quantitative safety metrics that monitor safety performance throughout the robot's lifecycle. Your contributions are integral to 1X’s mission of crafting credible, evidence-based safety narratives that guide internal decision-making and promote transparency externally. You'll be tasked with analyzing validation results, simulations, and real-world data to inform deployment readiness while shaping public-facing safety reports grounded in actual performance data. You will report directly to the Director of Robot Safety.
Your Responsibilities
- Define and uphold safety KPIs and metrics that correspond with actual hazards and risk exposures.
- Evaluate data from simulations, validation, and field operations to determine safety performance.
- Detect regressions and emerging risks caused by software or hardware modifications.
- Work collaboratively with teams across Functional Safety, V&V, and Safety Assurance to ensure metrics align with safety cases and deployment strategies.
- Effectively convey uncertainty, assumptions, and limitations of data.
- Support executive decision-making through concise, data-driven safety insights.
